THE STUDIO

Architecture and design by Bailey Humbert Heck.

BHH Architects and Studio 540 bring together the architectural and design work of Bailey Humbert Heck.

Based in New York, Bailey works across residential architecture, interiors and a wider range of design projects, including kitchens, outdoor spaces, pools, furniture and objects.

His work is guided by the character of each project, the people it is designed for and an interest in materials, construction and the details that make a space work.

OUR APPROACH

Architecture, interiors and everything in between.

Every project brings its own set of possibilities and challenges. Bailey approaches each one individually, taking time to understand the site, the existing conditions and what the client wants to achieve.

From new homes and renovations to interior alterations and more specialized design work, the process is collaborative and practical. Ideas are explored openly, with consideration given to how spaces will look, feel and function over time.

The aim is straightforward: thoughtful design that responds to its surroundings, works for the people using it and feels right for the place.

THE ARCHITECT

A perspective shaped by experience.

Bailey Humbert Heck’s approach to architecture has been influenced by the places he’s lived, the cultures he’s experienced and a longstanding interest in how things are made.

Growing up in an American steel town gave him an early appreciation for materials, industry and construction. His experiences in Japan and Scandinavia introduced different perspectives on design, craftsmanship and the relationship between simplicity and function.

Bailey studied Japanese Studies at Bucknell University before earning a Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia. He went on to establish BHH Architects in New York, bringing these influences together in a practice that spans architecture, interiors and design.

DESIGN EXPLORATIONS

Design beyond the building.

Studio 540 extends Bailey’s architectural approach to projects of different scales, from kitchens and interior spaces to gardens, pools, furniture and individual objects.

The same considerations carry through each project: how something is constructed, how materials work together and how the finished design fits into everyday life.

Furniture and objects offer a particularly direct way to explore these ideas, with proportion, function and construction playing a central role in each piece.
