The Hisashiburi Bench explores the relationship between wood, stainless steel, and leather through a restrained architectural composition. Its apparently simple form reveals a carefully considered structural system in which a recessed stainless steel strut connects the through-mortised wooden legs.
An elevated platform supports a removable leather pad, creating a comfortable seating surface while preserving the clarity of the underlying construction. The integration of materials is deliberately subtle, allowing the joinery and proportions to define the design.
The leather pad can also be replaced with glass or resin, allowing the Hisashiburi Bench to function as a low table. This adaptability extends the piece beyond conventional seating furniture.
